Danielle Flanders

We are so excited to welcome Danielle Flanders to Vintage Street Market this month! Danielle created some amazing projects using the vintage Travel kit, Tinted Tape, and the Party Games Paper Sheets & Tags. Love how she combined the elements from both!

About Danielle:

Hi! I am a K-6 certified Elementary Teacher, now a SAHM with my 2 beautiful girls, Taylor, age 11, and Kati who is 5. I began scrapping when Taylor was born when I started a baby book for her. I would say my style is girly and a little bit “shabby”, yet I love color as well. Cards and altered projects are my current love, and I am drawn to trying different techniques and thinking outside the box with my supplies! Right now I am designing for Crate Paper, Glue Arts, Jenni Bowlin, Melissa Frances, Pink Paislee and Papertrey Ink. Thank you for having me this month! Stop by my blog: Homespun With Heart.

Happy Birthday Butterfly card:
I used the yellow “Memo” paper as a backdrop for this card and punched a 2″ circle from the old book paper. I adhered it to the card with the Numbers Tinted Tape, love this tape! The butterflies are punched from the yellow crepe paper (included in the Party Games paper kit) and the little postage stamps in the vintage Travel kit!

You Make My World That Much Brighter card:
Here I used one of the vintage note papers in the background of the card. To get the little book paper strips, I used the Linen Tinted Tape and stuck a strip of the tape to the book paper and peeled it up carefully. The result is the book print sticks to the tape! I made 3 of these added these little strips to my card. On the top strip, you can see I stuck it over a stamp also. I made little flowers from the crepe paper (included in the Party Games kit) and stamped a sentiment from my stash of stamps in black.

(Note: the bright die cuts also come from the Party Games paper kit)

Amazing Person You Are card:
I started with the cute pocket and cut some of the 7 Gypsies paper to tuck inside, along with an old playing card. I loved the red that it added. To dress up the front of the pocket, I cut a pattern out from the Basic Grey paper and added a Chunky Button and checkers piece from the vintage kit! I stamped a sentiment from my stash on the bottom and cut a small piece of the crocheted white lace to lighten up the bottom of the card.

(Note: the red string comes from the packaging of Party Games! Great idea to re-purpose that!)

You Take Care card:
I used the old Viewfinder pocket/piece in the vintage Travel kit and covered it up with an old paper, then added a green playing card, a tag and a butterfly cut from one of the papers over a ticket. I stamped “take care” and “you” with stamps from my stash (Note: the mini tag comes from the Party Games kit). On the inside, you can add a sentiment to the center of the round piece that comes with the pocket!

Just For You Gift Box and Gift Card Holder:

Here I used the paper from the Party Games kit to cover a box, then wrapped the lace ribbon around the bottom of the box. I cut a long strip of crepe paper, then trimmed little cuts all along the edge to make fringe, and lastly wrapped it around in the center of the box, scrunched it up and adhered. I kind of like the funky looking bow it makes! On the gift box (tiny tag)  I cut a piece of the white lace ribbon, wrapped it around and sprayed it with Lemon Zest Glimmer Mist to make it yellow, a great way to customize your ribbon to your project.

On the gift card, I used a kraft pocket from my stash and embellished it with lots of bits and bobs from the travel kit, little pieces of vintage paper, a butterfly cut out of the postage stamp, a little piece of a ticket and the Numbers Tinted Tape across the bottom. Mixing the tape in with the vintage items makes  the vintage look a little more fun and not so serious. I used the crepe paper to line the top of the gift card holder.

(Note the Linen Tinted Tape across the top of the ticket-what a great, subtle accent! And, you can stitch right through it!)

Thank you Danielle! We love how you combined the neutral Travel vintage kit with the vibrancy of Party Games! Great ideas and techniques-thank you for sharing them with us!!!
